Christopher Niblock
'Although I live and work in Church Stretton at the heart of the South Shropshire hills, it is the curves and planes of the human face and form that inspire me. My work is rooted in portraiture, but recently I have embarked upon a series of contemporary figurative paintings which contain a visual joke, or whose title involves a play on words.'
Chris was born in South London, but has lived in the West Midlands from the age of thirteen. He studied graphic design and typography at the Birmingham School of Printing and spent his working life as a graphic designer and freelance photographer. He took up painting seriously in 2006.
When he's not painting, Chris is writing and is the author of the novel Back Dated. He also writes a regular Blog: A Kindle in the Mynd. To read the Blog, see more of his artworks or buy the book, go to www.chrisniblock.com
